I AM YOU ARE

I Am You Are is an examination of identity in terms of Internet culture as much as it is an exploration of process and interpretation. Over the course of a few months, I initiated dozens of email correspondences using the popular Internet forum Craigslist. The e-mail exchanges included hopeful romantic endeavors, apartment seekers, ranters, and ravers. I created a set of personas taken directly from how these individuals had described themselves to me in their e-mail. Mixing these self-descriptions with my own interpretations, I cast a number of models and shot a series of photographs depicting these collaboratively imagined characters.
