Resolve
Primarily a combat sequence, Resolve combines medieval elements from European and Japanese traditions to capture the physicality of swords- manship and martial arts in the context of a single character’s expressive dual nature. The battle sequence reflects the classic warrior’s mor- al conflict whether to kill or protect, a terrible negotiation between life and death, violence and skill, thinking and acting, without clear resolu- tion. Beyond a study of character design and dynamics, the project required the development of custom Maya Embedded Language (MEL) tools to help convey the intensity of combat.
